Internet Safety Resources for Parents

Internet Safety Resources for Parents

With all of the technology available to us today, there is one thing in total abundance…..information! Loads and loads of information available at our fingertips.  Information from news sites, health sites, parenting sites, our Facebook feeds, Pinterest and Google.

I’m a parent too and I know the overwhelm attached to researching a topic.  Often times, I’ve been online and ended up confused, deciding to taking no action at all on what it was I was searching on.

Internet Safety Resources for Parents

This is why I know that it can be hard to get started with looking into internet safety for our children.  It’s a current topic, there is plenty of information available and we all want to take action to protect our own kids.

As well as educating ourselves on current topics and how to guide our children on being responsible digital citizens, there is also the practical side such as setting parental controls on the kid’s devices.

It is unreasonable to expect that you should know all there is to know about Internet Safety, but you can learn about online risks, the safety settings available on most devices and how to assess things like apps and online games. I know that some parents are only comfortable doing what they need to do an an iPad and no-more.  The thought of creating passcodes and setting up restrictions on iPads is paralyzing.

These are the very reasons why The Tech Mum was formed.

I want to provide parents with the information they are looking for and the information that they need to be be involved in their child’d digital lives.  I want parents to feel empowered to make decisions that are right for their family.  I’m a firm believer that one method will NOT fit every family.  I also know that everyone learns in different ways and that we are all ‘time poor’!  With this in mind, I have developed several ways in which you can consume the information you seek.
